Bath House
London, UKCompetition: 2021
Bringing the joy of bathing back into the area following the closure of Haggerston Baths, this less traditional bath house is experienced whatever thenatural elements outside.
The columns and therefore the structure of the bath house is derived from existing assets and spacings of windows of the existing warehouse. Thus helping tocreate a more sinuous composition in tune with its surroundings.
Varying degrees of privacy can be obtained by pulling across the shutters These are demoutable much in the same way sliding doors can be taken out easily with a deeper grove in the top of the door frame and a shallower on in the bottom.
The nature of Japanese joinery allows the structure to be erected without metal brackets and the bath house can be dismanteled entirely should there be a dispute around permitted development.
